Smart Service (SS) Systems are becoming increasingly essential parts of all industries and areas of life. Meanwhile, in order to  use data from the Internet of Things for individualizing and automatizing service offerings, Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming a key technology in amost all fields. It is necessary to understand the innovations from AI application on smart service, identify the role of  the AI services in difference application areas, and recognize the challenges as well as successful experiences prior to such implementations.
